Iris is a deaf girl named after a whale. Once her science teacher shows the class about Blue 55, a whale who speaks much higher than other whales, Iris is interested. She travels everywhere to try and meet him. I’ll leave the rest for you to find out. I love this book. It is so interesting, since it is realistic fiction. I give this a 4.5/5 stars on the marianarchy scale.
Lynne Kelly’s work as a sign language interpreter has taken her everywhere from classrooms to hospitals to Alaskan cruises. Her first novel, the award-winning Chained, was named to seven state reading lists and won the SCBWI’s Crystal Kite Award. She lives near Houston, Texas, with her adorable dog, Holly. Song for a Whale is her second novel.
