I know I have already posted about Seven Day Magic, but this is going to be a better post about Seven Day Magic with more cool stuff added. Now, pretend that I never added this first part, and read the rest of the post!
“‘The best kind fo book,’ said Barnaby, ‘is a magic book.’ ‘Naturally,’ said John. There was a silence, as they all thought about this and how it was true. ‘The best kind of magic book,’ said Barnaby, leaning back against the edge of the long, low library table and surveying the crowded bookshelves, only seeming somehow to look beyond them and beyond everything else, too, the way he so often did, ‘is when it’s about ordinary people like us, and then something happens and it’s magic.’”
Seven Day Magic is about a group of kids who find a magical book in their public library. (https://borrow.bklynlibrary.org/r2s/iii/cas/login?service=https%3A%2F%2Fborrow.brooklynpubliclibrary.org%3A443%2Fiii%2Fencore%2Fj_acegi_cas_security_check&lang=eng) They all take turns making wishes through the magic book, but the wishes never come true exactly as they expect them too. But the hardest challenge is that the book is due back at the library in one week! Will they be able to have all the adventures, slay all the dragons, in one week? Find out in Seven Day Magic by Edward Eager!
I wish that they had more rules having to do with the magic. Like, you have to get out of the story by [blank] a clock, or else you would be trapped in the story for ever.
I also wish the girls had more adventurous stories, or were the heroes of their stories.
From the back of book:
” All books are magic, but some are more magical than others. When Susan opens a strange library book, she discovers it is about her and her friends, leading up to the moment when she opened the book. Beyond that, the pages are blank… waiting for the children to wish the book full of adventures. Fredericka asks for wizards and beasties, and a dragon carries her off. Susan journeys to the world Half Magic (https://bookshop.org/books/half-magic/9780544671720) and finds that mixing magic creates trouble–far too much to deal with before the book is due back at the library. Will their adventure end happily ever after?”
(Note: Half Magic is another book written by Edward Eager!)
